Ya know, when you sign up for an advanced math class, you'd think you'd be put in a class with kids your own age or older. But no, not my school. I get put in with sophomores (not that I have a problem with them, even though the majority at my school are so high and mighty). At my school, each math class is separated into two or three different class levels. So, the class I'm in has three: basic, regular, and advanced. Well, the school district has this advanced placement thing and by teacher recommendation, kids can skip seventh grade math and be push up a year. This would have happened to me, but my sixth grade math teacher hated me. She told my parents that she thought I could probably be able to handle the advanced class but it would be better to keep me in regular math. Considering the fact I received some of the highest math scores in the class, that made no sense. But my parents listened to her and it's pretty much screwed me over. But, anywho, back to the classes. This year, I had the option of jumping up to the advanced class and I took it. I was expecting more than four juniors out of a class of twenty-five kids. Yeah, we have four juniors. Apparently, the advanced placement kids aren't put in the regular course for algebra two like they are for pre-algebra and algebra one and geometry. No, they're put in the hardest level available. So, now I'm stuck in a class with sophomores. Just FYI, in my school, sophomores=freshmen because the freshmen are in a separate school that's across town.
Wow, did not expect to rant on that. Hm, oh well. Well, there is a funny story about my math teacher that happened, like, a week and a half ago. She was handing back out our homework assignments that we turned in the day before and this was before class started, so I took out my sketchbook like any bored artist would and started working on a picture I had started an hour before. Well, my teacher saw me working on it. I do this in a lot of my classes before they start, so I didn't think much about her seeing it, but I shouldn't have been surprised by how she reacted considering she was a new teacher for me. (Another thing about my school is we tend to switch teachers after each semester) One minute I was just drawing away, the next I'm completely frozen in shock because she shouted, with almost the entire class there, "You're an artist, too??!!"
Of course, the incident was quite humorous. It's always fun when people find out I enjoy drawing because they tend to have a look of disbelief on their faces, along with amazement. I must not have the 'artist' look, though I have no idea what an artist looks like. Then again, people are often amazed at how much a geek I really am. And when they see my test scores. Sometimes I think they get the impression I'm not smart (which might because of my speech, which I've always had an issue with). Oh well, more entertainment for me.

I used colored pencils. But the ones I used end up with a crayon texture if I get a thick layer.
